Marketing Tip of the Month – Watch Your Competitors
Watch Your Competitors To Make Sure You Are Not Missing Out
Watch Your Competitors, if you know what your competitors are doing, you’ll be able to do it better!
There are many benefits to watch your competitors by keeping an eye on them:
- You’ll get a specific idea of what your competitive advantages are
- You’ll be able to hone your marketing strategy to get a better return and a greater market share
- And if you can fully understand what else is out there, you can focus on making your products or services truly extraordinary
Here’s four things you should do routinely to ensure you can always stay one step ahead of your competition.
Read Reviews
Read as many reviews of your competitors’ products or services as you can – both good and bad.
The good reviews will give you insights into what customers like about your competitors. Maybe they’re offering features that you’re not!
The bad reviews will reveal pain points and oversights that you can use to make your products or services even better. And perhaps once you’ve created a superior solution, you can offer it to your competitors’ unhappy customers? Bad reviews can be a great source of untapped revenue!
Follow Them on Social Media
Find as many of your competitors’ social media profiles as you can and follow every single one of them. You might want to do this using your personal profiles, as it’ll make it less obvious to your competitors that they’re being watched.
What are they posting about -Watch Your Competitors?
Which updates get the best reception from their customers?
And which updates get ignored?
Social media will give you a very good idea of what customers in your sector want to see. You can then craft the sort of social media content you know will make a splash.
Check Their Backlinks
Watch Your Competitors – If you want to rank highly in the Google search results, you’re going to need some high-quality backlinks to your site.
Use a backlink checker tool to see who’s linking to your competition.
What pages on their site are generating the most interest?
Are there any content ideas you can emulate?
Monitor Their PPC
Certain tools can show you the keywords your competitors are targeting. This information is dynamite for your PPC ad strategy! You can target any keywords your competitors have overlooked, and if you know what they are targeting, you can alter your bids accordingly.
Tools like Ahrefs and SEMRush let you check your competitors’ backlinks and their target keywords, making it an essential tool for competitor research.
You should also get into the habit of checking your competitors’ PPC landing pages.
These will give you a great idea of just what they’re doing with their overall PPC strategy – the products they’re focusing on, the features they’re highlighting, their special offers and their USPs.
You can use all of this information to hone your own PPC campaign, and you might even get some inspiration for improving your landing pages.
