PPC News April 2023: Spring is here to stay, and with it brings new ways of working. In this, the fourth monthly update of 2023, we take a closer look at everything including how best to understand eCommerce search terms in these uncertain times, how AI is transforming the eCommerce sector, and how to easily reduce wasted ad spend with eCommerce PPC.

As we take the tentative step of banishing our winter coats, it’s a good way to cap the month by just stopping, pausing and reflecting over the previous month, as it can be hugely beneficial to see just how far the hard work and dedication of our incredible team has brought us in what has been only the first four months of 2023 for our team of Google Ad experts.

This outstanding work ethic is constantly echoed in our TrustPilot reviews: check them out.

So, without further ado, let’s get started. There’s a lot to get through.

Understanding eCommerce Search Terms in Uncertain Times

PPC News April 2023 overview:

We began the month of April by taking it upon ourselves to try and help you understand eCommerce search terms in these very uncertain times. In this blog, we took on global uncertainty, economic turmoil and the rising cost of living crisis in order to improve our understanding of what audiences are searching for in this unprecedented climate.

PPC News April 2023 key findings:

From AI to war, we found that many of you have turned to Google to get your shopping fix whilst also searching for answers to the world’s biggest questions. What we found was that finance questions had increased, and thus impacted the way we shop online – but also that saving the planet is at the forefront of your minds when shopping, as is your desire for luxury items. With this in mind, our PPC experts were able to get a thorough understanding of what to expect this year.

Exciting New Features for Google Discovery Campaigns Explained

PPC News April 2023 overview:

Our second blog of April 2023 saw us delve deeper into the exciting new features for Google’s discovery campaigns, which were announced earlier in the year. Google unveiled three exciting new features for its Discovery Campaigns, while we discovered that, according to Google, brands are already experiencing a 94% increase in sales from prospective customers. With a 28% year-on-year increase in return on advertising spend.

PPC News April 2023 key findings:

Google’s new features for Google Discover Campaigns include: a new engaging layout and product feed; an improved reporting and measurement system; and the introduction of conversion lift experiments. In short, we concluded that these new tools could help to improve your Discovery Campaigns and massively benefit your advertising output.

How AI and Machine Learning are Transforming eCommerce

PPC News April 2023 overview:

AI and eCommerce machine learning are providing a new foundation on which businesses can prosper. AI related learning tools can help today’s online retailers deliver an optimised customer experience through their websites. So, this April, we thought we’d try our hand at answering how AI is transforming the eCommerce sector, while our Google Ad specialists also tried to more accurately predict the next wave of technologies.

PPC News April 2023 key findings:

What we discovered was that personalisation is a top priority for AI experts. Though according to most retailers only 15% say they’ve ‘implemented personalisation across various channels,’ we found that standing out from the crowd with more personalised messaging to be one of the main advantages of AI and eCommerce machine learning. Along with customer retention through targeted messaging and implementing a seamless sales process, personalisation via AI is revolutionising the eCommerce sector.

5 Ways to Boost Your eCommerce Business in 2023

PPC News April 2023 overview:

As we noted in early April, the economy has been in a volatile and unpredictable state of late. The Russia-Ukraine war paired with the COVID pandemic impacted the economy beyond belief, leaving advertisers searching for ways to boost their eCommerce business. So, with this in mind, we decided to list 5 ways to boost your eCommerce business in 2023.

PPC News April 2023 key findings:

Some of the ways we decided were best to help boost your eCommerce business were to optimise eCommerce trustworthiness factors to boost your eCommerce business; optimise ROAS by saving money on marketing costs; implement dynamic pricing optimisation to maximise profit margin; and create a comprehensive email database to boost your eCommerce business, among other more basic things.

How to Reduce Wasted Ad Spend and Compete More Effectively with eCommerce PPC

PPC News April 2023 overview:

Later in the month, the team and I decided to take a closer look at how best to reduce wasted ad spend and help you to compete more effectively with eCommerce PPC. As more businesses invest more money in trying to dominate the eCommerce market, we decided that the best way to compete more effectively was to reduce wasted ad spend.

PPC News April 2023 key findings:

Yet again this month, AI was the answer to our questions. Indeed, we discovered that a key benefit of automated bid strategies is that artificial intelligence targets the user profile most likely to convert and, when appropriate, bids higher to gain that conversion. With this in mind, we found this technique to underpin all of the ways in which to achieve eCommerce PPC success.

Why is Tracking so Essential to Optimum eCommerce Performance?

PPC News April 2023 overview:

Why is tracking so Essential to Optimum eCommerce Performance? This is the question we asked of ourselves in April. Accurate tracking is essential for a highly optimised Google Ads campaign, both for monitoring ad spend and investment, and providing the Google algorithm with data.

PPC News April 2023 key findings:

Precise ad tracking helps you to know exactly what each pound of spend brings you in sales. Without this, you will never know when to change your ad content or change your ad spend. This is one of the biggest areas where tracking can make a difference to your eCommerce campaigns. So, by installing up-to-the-minute tracking of calls, leads, forms, purchase and revenue, we argued that you would never have to make a decision blind ever again, ultimately improving your eCommerce efficiency.
